    • EU Programme Participation

      The EC recently launched a new funding programme, called Horizon 2020. This programme will invest €79 billion across Europe between 2014 – 2020, and aims to boost jobs and growth.

      Horizon 2020 will have a significant emphasis on industry and supporting innovation in SMEs. SEAM’s traditional links to industry and its commitment to developing the South-East region means it is strategically placed to participate in the Horizon 2020 programme.

  • Commercialisation

SEAM works through the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund to develop and get technology into market and engage in market driving initiatives. On-going projects include;

Cartilage Defect Measurement System: Damage to articular cartilage is currently assessed through a visual estimation using an arthroscopic probe, which is prone to a large degree of error. SEAM is currently developing an arthroscopically accessible measurement device that can accurately assess the size of cartilage defects.

Drug Delivery Technologies: SEAM is involved in a collaborative project with the PMBRC in the development of a device for injectable and biodegradable long-acting formulations for sustained drug release.  The project is funded by Enterprise Ireland under the Commercialisation fund.
